our stories

Brian Cabaniss

Brian’s childhood was spent in Virginia shadowing his dad’s local carpentry projects and admiring his brother’s drawings. These early memories were impactful, and eventually led to his interest in architecture and design. Brian credits his dad as the person who taught him the importance of approaching a project from a place of curiosity and collaboration.

Since then, Brian has built a practice in architecture and design driven by his desire to tell stories through place, function, and craft. His favorite part of the design process is also perhaps the most difficult: merging client interests with a design philosophy. Seeking points of connection is a consistent source of value for Brian, specifically he enjoys forming an intentional and collaborative project team.

Outside of his work as project leader at Lang, Brian enjoys food and travel adventures with his family. His early interest in drawing and black and white film photography has solidified into a lifelong creative design practice that he feels lucky to have discovered.
