Project Info

The Twin Chimneys House is a single story, three bedroom wood clad house in a mature woodland with sweeping lake views. Approaching the house from the road, visitors meander downhill through 14 forested acres, with views through the trees to the lake.

The house is comprised of a central living space, flanked by the primary suite, and the guest wing on either side. A 35 foot window wall lines both sides of the living space, allowing for complete immersion with the outdoors.

A low slung hip roof with deep overhangs define the home, and wood cladding stained green root the house to the natural surrounding.

Process

Project collaborators designed and constructed a house in response to the diverse topographic conditions of the site. This approach informed our decision to construct the home on wood piers in order to achieve resilience and immersion in nature.
